Kart Directory keeps as little as it can, only to run the features you use, and never sells or shares it for marketing.

Who we are
Kart Directory (kartdirectory.co.uk) is run by Jordan Montgomery in the United Kingdom, who is responsible for your details under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018). For anything about your details, email hello@kartdirectory.co.uk.
Browsing the site
Reading the site needs no account, and there is no advertising, analytics or tracking. Like any website, our host's servers see your IP address and browser when pages load, and keep short-lived technical logs to run the site securely.
Choosing "Circuits near me" uses your location in your own browser to work out distances. It is sent to the routing service only as the start point of a route, and is never stored by Kart Directory.
Team listings and board posts
When you ask to be listed, we keep what you enter so we can check it, publish it and forward messages to you. On the site we show only the public parts: the name, circuits, championships, classes, experience or information, a team's website and logo.
Your email address and phone number are private unless you choose to show them. Teams can tick "Show on my listing" for either. Whatever you choose, visitors can message you through the site: we email their message to you with their email address, so you can reply directly.
Why we can use them: to provide the listing you asked for, and with your agreement, which you can withdraw by taking your listing down.
Accounts
When a team listing or mechanic post is approved, the email address on it becomes your account. There is no password: you sign in with a one-time link we email you, which works once and only for an hour. From your account you can edit, renew or take down what you've posted. Changes are checked by Kart Directory before they appear, unless we have marked you as a trusted member, in which case they appear straight away and we are told.
Messages to a listing
If you message a team or mechanic, we pass your name, email address and message to them by email so they can reply to you. We don't keep a copy of the message after sending it.
Offering to marshal
If you press "I can marshal" for a meeting, we email your name, email address, phone number (if you give it), experience, the days you can do and any message to the contact that club publishes for marshals or competitions, with a copy to you and a note to us. The club replies to you directly. We don't keep the offer after sending it, apart from the short email log described below.
Suggest an update
Suggestions are emailed to us, with a copy kept on our server so none are lost. Giving your email address is optional and only used to reply to you. We use suggestions to keep the directory accurate, which is in everyone's legitimate interest.
Stopping spam
Our forms ask your browser to solve a small puzzle before they send, which slows down automated spam. It runs on your device and sends nothing about you. To limit abuse, we also count how many forms are sent from each network address, using a scrambled (hashed) copy of the address that is deleted within the hour. This is in our legitimate interest of keeping the site usable and safe.
How long we keep things
- Live listings and posts: while they're on the site. Mechanic posts end after 30 days unless renewed.
- Removed, rejected or ended listings: deleted automatically 90 days after they come down, with any logo.
- Suggestions: up to 12 months.
- A log of emails the site sends: the address, subject, time and whether the mail server accepted it (never the message itself), for 30 days, so we can sort out delivery problems.
- Emails: the notification emails we receive about listings and suggestions are kept in our mailbox for as long as they're useful, and at most 2 years.
Every email we send about a listing includes a link to take it down straight away. To have your details deleted completely, email hello@kartdirectory.co.uk.
Cookies
If you are just browsing, Kart Directory sets no cookies at all. We only use two cookies, and only after you sign in. Both are strictly necessary to keep you signed in, so they don't need your consent and there's no cookie banner.

Neither cookie tracks you, and neither is shared with anyone. Your browser may keep ordinary cached copies of pages and images; that isn't a cookie and holds nothing about you.
Services we use
- Hostinger: hosts the site and our email. Your listing and messages are stored on and sent through their servers.
- Pitwall Weather, powered by Green Turtle Media, and Open-Meteo: weather. Our server asks for the weather at each circuit; your browser never contacts them, and nothing about you is sent.
- OpenStreetMap (map tiles) and jsDelivr (the map's code): loaded by your browser on the circuit map, so they see your IP address, as any website you visit does. They don't set cookies through our pages.
- OSRM (routing): works out driving distances when you choose "Circuits near me", from the start point your browser sends.
We don't sell your details, share them for marketing, or use them for anything beyond what's described here.
Your rights
You can ask to see the details we hold about you, to have them corrected or deleted, or to object to how we use them. Email hello@kartdirectory.co.uk and we'll reply within a month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your details, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We'd appreciate the chance to put it right first.
